If you’re looking to make a profit from your designs, you need to make sure that both the fonts and images being used are for commercial use.
In this case, commercial use means that you, the user, have either purchased a license to use said images or fonts, OR the creator has given their creation to the public domain for everyone to use.
While I always recommend paying for new fonts when you can, let’s face it – they can really start to add up!
Designers should have plenty of fonts in their arsenal, and to be honest, most of them aren’t cheap!
Fortunately, there’s plenty of sites that offer some AMAZING fonts that are completely free that are totally safe to use in your commercial projects.
Font Bundles
Probably my favorite on this list, Font Bundles has TONS of free fonts – and all of them are free for commercial use.
You’ll find fonts from all styles here, however, they are mostly handwritten or script fonts.
They have a huge selection of permanent freebies, as well as a limited time freebie.
Every week, they select a premium font to make free for the whole week.
A new font is chosen every Wednesday, and they often choose from their most popular fonts, so it’s always a great deal!
You can sign up to their email list to get a notification of this so you don’t forget.
One of my favorite things about this site is that I never need to worry about checking for licenses.
Everything on this site, free or purchased, is for commercial use.
Creative Fabrica
Another amazing source for free commercial use fonts is Creative Fabrica.
Like Font Bundles, everything on this site can be used for commercial purposes, so you don’t have to worry about accidentally downloading something that is only free for personal use.
There’s something here for every category, including handwritten fonts, free script fonts, dingbats, and more.
They also offer a ton of free images that can be used in your designs, such as watercolor florals for wedding invitations.
While Creative Fabrica has a lot of free products to offer, I want to call attention to their subscription services.
They have 2 different subscriptions: One for fonts, and one for graphics.
Since this is a post about Fonts, I’ll just be talking about that service.
For $19 a month, you get access to every font on the website, and they can be used for any commercial project.
While this might seem steep, as I write this, there are close to 14,000 fonts currently on the site. Fonts often sell for upwards of $20, so there’s a ton of savings to be had.
Now, before you start thinking that you can subscribe for a month, download all the fonts, and then cancel your subscription, be warned that you will no longer be able to use the downloaded fonts for commercial use.
New fonts are added all the time, and as more talented designers start selling on this website, more and more amazing fonts will appear.
After I became a subscriber, I feel like my designs started to become more varied and accessible to more people, so that’s definitely a plus!
Creative Market
Creative Market is probably the best source on this list for high quality fonts, as they are very selective about who can sell on the site.
As far as freebies go, every week they offer 6 limited time freebies.
The freebies are a mixture of stock images, templates, photography, and fonts. Usually there is at least one font that is free every week.
The Hungry Jpeg

Next up on the list is The Hungry Jpeg. They are a site that is similar to Font Bundles, and they have a lot of quality products for sale.
They offer a free font bundle, that as far as I know, does not change. I downloaded this over a year ago, and the same fonts that I got are still being offered.
They are quality fonts, however, and I actually use them pretty often.
They also have a general freebies section, where you can sort between many categories, including fonts.
A word of warning, however, only some fonts here are for commercial use.
Many of them say in the title “For Personal Use Only”, so make sure you double check before downloading.
DaFont

What would a font list be without DaFont? Easily the most popular font site, this entry is lower on my list for one reason: many fonts on this site are for personal use only.
However, they do offer a way to sort through and search for things that are in the creative commons, royalty free, or licensed for commercial use, so you don’t have to worry about downloading the wrong thing.
The quality of fonts on this site vary wildly though, because anyone can upload without being vetted first.
Many font designers upload their fonts for personal use here so that you can try a demo first before buying, so if you do see a font on another site that you would like to purchase, check here first to try before you buy.
Just don’t forget to buy later if you are using it commercially!
Font Squirrel

Font Squirrel is a great site for free fonts! Everything on the site is both free and for commercial use. They are all hand-picked and high quality.
There’s a lot of categories to choose from so you can find exactly what you are looking for.
When I first got started, I used this website a lot, but these days I don’t check it as often. If you’re an SVG designer like me, you might be looking for fonts that are a bit more unique.
However, if you’re a traditional graphic designer, this site has a lot of serif and sans serif fonts that might be perfect for your projects!
If you’re looking to make a monogram, I’ve got you covered with my list of 14 Amazing Free Monogram Fonts.
I also have a list of 14 Free for Commercial Use Script Fonts.
My 12 Adorably Cute Fonts for Crafters list has fonts that are not free, however, they are really amazing and unique for craft projects!
